Today was an interesting one to reflect on. It dawned on me when a close friend asked me for feedback on his latest work he plans to release. I presented him with the idea about “chemistry”. Lots of music that record labels hype up to promote don’t always have chemistry. For example,you could have a really dope artist rapping or singing over a track but it doesn’t excite or inspire you to listen to more material. Something is just missing. That’s what I would call “chemistry”. It’s like having Travis Barker outshine the artist he’s featuring on his song. Given,he’s the artist featuring someone on the song but making the artist sound boring is probably “chemistry”. I respect the artists and the intent of the project but “chemistry” seems to fit what’s missing nowadays.
